Metallurgy Engineer
Role: Leads China Sourcing team in the identification, assessment and qualification of new suppliers. Provides technical/metallurgical support to the “new product” and “production” inspectors. Primary contact for V&M engineering and quality teams to related secondary operations such as plating and heat treating.
Reports to China Procurement Manager
Key Responsibilities:
Ensures supplier has capability to produce parts to V&M specifications and requirements
Primary lead for new supplier identification and assessment
Supports supplier quality group to develop inspection/control plans
Assist “new product inspector” with sample development and approval process
Leads process improvement activities with the China supply base
Primary resource for analysis of physical and radiographic tests
Lead consultant for casting pattern development and trouble-shooting
Primary point of contact for V&M engineering groups
Qualifications:
Strong technical understanding of API standards
Mechanical engineering or metallurgical background/training preferred
Steel casting, forging and machining experience
Degree and minimum 5 years of experience
Salary Range
15,000 to 20,000 RMB/month
